This is not a rant about gay rights. I’m not out to change the minds of people who don’t approve of homosexuality. I couldn’t care less if you agree with it or not; that’s your business. This is a rant about friendship, and the ignorance of people who can’t tell the difference between it and romance.

Seriously. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to say this.

Having a best friend of the same gender doesn’t make you gay. You can feel close to them without being gay. Telling them you love them does not make you gay. You can love someone in a sisterly/brotherly kind of way. It does NOT mean you must have romantic feelings for them.

Also, Kat and Sayde say themselves they love each other like sisters countless times throughout the comics, so why are people still insisting they’re together? Do you guys just fail to read the text properly or what?

I have no issue making gay characters if I want to, but please stop telling me Kat and Sayde are together, because they are NOT. They’re my characters, so I think I know them better than you guys do, sorry to say. It’s just not something I wanted to include in their story. They work better as friends or sisters. That’s how they view each other: sisters.

And to those who don’t like homosexuality, well, I’m sure you don’t like murder or rape or any other crime either, but you still read my stuff and you don’t go out of your way to tell me how wrong and horrible it is, do you, or how wrong I am for daring to include it in the stories? You just accept it as part of the storyline. If you really view homosexuality as wrong too, why can’t you just accept THAT as part of the storyline and enjoy the story for what it is, especially when Kat and Sayde aren’t even gay and it’s just you assuming they are, even when I’ve said COUNTLESS times that they’re not?

I’m not saying homosexuality should be compared to things like murder, before anyone freaks out at me. I’m gay myself so of course I have absolutely no issue with it. I’m just saying that some people don’t approve of it, and that’s fine. That’s their opinion and I’m not going to waste my time trying to change minds about it. All I’m saying is, you can read a story or watch a movie where characters do MANY things you don’t agree with, but nobody freaks out over it because it’s fiction. So why do people do it when it comes to gay characters? What’s the difference?

To be honest, I’m not even a romantic kind of person. Even when I do include it in my stories, it’s never the main focus of my stuff. I prefer to write about family life and friendship. Mostly friendship. Friendship is a major theme in all of my work, and it’s something I’ll always enjoy writing about for both my TLK stuff and human stories.

I really think anyone who thinks close friendship = romance is incredibly closed minded, to be honest.  Really people, learn to tell the different between the two.

I hate ranting about this stuff, I really do. I like to think I’m a pretty laid back person, especially when it comes to DA related things. It takes a lot to annoy me here, and when I do get annoyed, I’m usually able to shrug it off. I'm also a bit worried about posting this, because I despise drama and conflict; I think it's incredibly petty to see people arguing on the internet and I don't want to be the root of any of that...but I guess this has been going on for too long now and I needed to make it clear. I still feel like people will ignore this and I’ll still get ignorant comments about it, but I had to at least try and knock some sense into some people. Whether or not they read this is down to them.

OK, I’m done. Have a nice day people~

I see this all over dA, so when i came across your lovely art, and saw them i was like, "ugh not another one of these" But then you proved by this journal and story what true friendship is. There are three words for Love in the Greek Language that Jesus used for example. One that is really important was Agape, meaning Unconditional love. Brotherly or fatherly love. And I see them with an agape love now. Thank God it's not a We are friends now lets be together thing lol
